The philosophy of our athletic program supports our mission at Hudson to develop the whole child – academically, socially and emotionally - by building a healthy mind, body and spirit. Our athletic program provides students with important life skills whether they play on competitive or intramural / house-league teams. Team and individual sports play a vital role in developing one’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional well-being. We are a proud member of the Small Schools Athletic Federation (SSAF), which comprises 30-plus independent schools in the GTA.

Beyond The ClassroomAt Hudson, we strongly encourage all of our students to become involved in the many extra-curricular and co-curricular programmes and activities we offer throughout the year. These activities help foster a strong sense of school community and pride as well as offering our students the opportunity to gain valuable experiences beyond the classroom that builds self confidence, which then very often translates into greater academic success. The Hudson Huskies!Our team mascot is the Husky. Our sports teams are known as the Hudson Huskies.
Why the Huskies? Well, Huskies are smart, active, energetic and resilient – just like Hudson students! Huskies have lots of stamina, strength, speed, and endurance with a positive attitude towards work – just like Hudson students! Huskies are popular as pets in the north – just like Hudson students! (kidding, of course!) Huskies can be extremely affectionate, friendly, curious, and welcoming to people. All traits which describe Hudson students! Hudson Athletics CouncilThe Athletics Council at Hudson is comprised of students from both the Lower and Upper School program. The Council works closely with faculty to promote school spirit at Hudson. The Council organizes student/faculty sports tournaments, Spirit Week activities, and various other athletic clubs and programs. The council not only provides valuable leadership opportunities for our students, it also allows them to contribute directly to the development of the Athletics program at Hudson.

Hudson Student GovernmentThis student-led organization gives students the opportunity to practice their team building and leadership skills by hosting projects ranging from fundraising for school events, yearbook production, class elections, and so on.

House System
A large part of our goals at Hudson is to develop young students of character who will be the next leaders of the 21st Century. We teach students from an early age the importance of personal integrity, respect for others, self-discipline, social responsibility, teamwork, and much more as part of our monthly Character Awards that start in Kindergarten. Much of this character education takes place beyond the classroom and core academic curriculum, forming an integral part of the day-to-day fabric of our school. Throughout their Primary, Junior and Intermediate years, we encourage our students to assume leadership roles, pursue their interests, and follow their passions, both inside and outside the classroom. This is accomplished through many various co- and extra-curricular activities offered at Hudson. Beginning in Grade 7, all Hudson students belong to one of four distinguished Houses - The Maritimes House; The Great Lakes House; The Prairies House; and The Rockies House. The House System is an important part of our community. All Faculty and Staff also belong to one of the four Houses. The House System fosters a sense of community, belonging, and camaraderie that encourages healthy competition, develops school spirit, and rewards positive actions initiated by students by awarding points for participation in extra-curricular activities. Students proudly wear their House Colours on Spirit Days and House Huddle days as a sign of solidarity and pride with other House members. The House System is just one of the many ways that we provide a sense of community here at Hudson.
