Job Purpose:

  • To carry out the professional duties of a teacher in accordance with the school's policies under the direction of the Principal and Vice Principal of Lower School
  • To be an effective teaching professional who demonstrates a thorough understanding and knowledge of grade 7 – 8 curriculum
  • To accurately and effectively assess students
  • To design and implement long range plans and unit plans that demonstrate creativity, inter-discipline connections and enrichment of curricular topics
  • To demonstrate effective teaching practices that include differentiated instruction to remediate and enrich student learning
  • To take responsibility for professional development and to work in a collaborative working environment
  • To lead, coordinate, and/or support co-curricular activities, sports and/or clubs

Job Requirements:

  • Proven certification in Junior/Intermediate, with a focus on Math and Language, OCT
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience
  • Proven ability to provide high quality education for all students with a particular focus on exceptional math and literacy programming
  • Proven ability in effective classroom management
  • Proven ability to assess, monitor, and report on student progress
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and to write clear long and short term plans
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and to use inclusive and innovative teaching practices
  • Proven ability to teach and use technology in the classroom
  • Proven ability to support student development competencies within a critical literacy program focused upon novel studies, critical-thinking writing program, and oral communication
  • Proven ability to support student development competencies in mathematics with a focus on enrichment and remediation
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction and be open to feedback and learning
  • Full-time position with start date of September, 2017
