Wrapping up 2017 in the Upper School

Wrapping up 2017 in the Upper School

The end of June brought forth many reasons for our high school to reflect on and celebrate the wonderful achievements we have earned this year. The 2016-2017 school year was an exciting one, with record participation in extracurricular activities and Hudson’s high school sports teams bringing home more banners than ever before!  The competition between the Husky houses were fierce, with points be submitted right up until the eleventh hour the day before the June Fest.

Congrats to the House Champions of the 2016-2017 School Year!

Teresa C as our Junior House Champion, Nicole E as our Intermediate House Champion, and Henry L as our Senior House Champion.

Throughout the year the four houses worked to outdo one another, from the pep rally to the house hosted events the rivalry was clear.  In the end, the Prairies house were the runners-up earning an impressive 9078 points and taking the top prize was the Maritimes house with 12797 points.  Congratulations!

The Huskies had an amazing athletic year, as this marks the first time that Hudson has won four high school banners in the SSAF!  Congratulations to all athletes for their participation, sportsmanship and athletic achievements this year.  Special recognition goes to the following students:

Marcus P for Character in Sport, Claudia B for Leadership in Sport, Joana X for Female Athlete of the Year, and Henry L for Male Athlete of the Year.

With respect to academics, twenty-six Hudson students participated in the prestigious Waterloo Math International Mathematics and Computer Competitions this year.   Eight students received a certificate of distinction for scoring in the top 25% of their category and four received a medal for being the school champions.  We are very proud of their hard work and their efforts!

We hosted our annual graduation ceremony on June 28th at the Columbus Centre. This year’s graduates demonstrated an impressive amount of focus, determination and passion as they worked towards earning a place in their desired programs. We are happy to announce that 100% of our graduates have been accepted by fantastic programs in both Canadian and international post-secondary institutions. We are proud of each and every one of our graduates’ successes and we wish them both luck and happiness in the future. You will always have a home at Hudson.

It was wonderful to celebrate the culmination of a fantastic and unforgettable year. We hope that our students enjoy a well deserved summer break.

Go Huskies!
